Jana Marra of Elite IV Hydration Built Her Business on Years in Pediatric Oncology

Before Jana Marra ever mixed an IV bag for a tired executive or a dehydrated weekend athlete, she spent years caring for children fighting cancer. That contrast says more about how she runs Elite IV Hydration than any service menu could.

Jana Marra, Jana Marra of Elite IV Hydration Built Her Business on Years in Pediatric Oncology
In this article

Jana Marra is a Registered Nurse with more than 20 years in healthcare and the founder of Elite IV Hydration, a wellness and IV therapy practice serving Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota. Originally from Slovakia, she built her nursing career around a principle she still leads with today: efficient, preventative care, delivered with real attention to the person receiving it.

That principle wasn't developed in a wellness spa. It was built in some of the most demanding corners of pediatric medicine.

A career built around the most vulnerable patients

Before founding Elite IV Hydration, Marra spent years working as a Hematology and Oncology Registered Nurse at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, caring for children being treated for blood disorders and cancer. That's among the most emotionally and clinically demanding specialties in nursing, requiring not just technical skill with IV lines and treatment protocols but the ability to stay steady for families going through the hardest moments of their lives.

Before that, she worked as a Pediatric Registered Nurse at Shriners Hospitals for Children, focused on children undergoing orthopedic surgeries, and at Pediatric Specialty Care, where she was devoted to the quality of life for medically fragile infants, children, and young adults. Across all three roles, the common thread is patients who couldn't advocate for themselves, kids who needed a nurse who paid close, careful attention because the alternative wasn't an option.

That progression, from orthopedic surgery patients to medically fragile children to pediatric oncology, traces a path toward increasingly high-stakes care rather than a lateral move between similar jobs. Each role demanded a different kind of vigilance: surgical recovery monitoring at Shriners, long-term quality-of-life management at Pediatric Specialty Care, and the emotionally taxing work of oncology and hematology at Johns Hopkins All Children's, often involving families facing the possibility of losing a child. Few nursing careers touch all three, and doing so builds a specific kind of resilience and attentiveness that doesn't show up on a standard resume line.

That background matters for understanding Elite IV Hydration, even though the clientele looks nothing like a pediatric oncology ward. The technical skill required to place an IV line correctly, monitor a patient's response, and adjust care to the individual in front of her isn't something Marra picked up running a wellness business. It's something she spent years perfecting on patients where getting it wrong carried much higher stakes than a missed vitamin infusion.

From mobile unit to two locations

Marra founded Elite IV Hydration in 2021, starting with a single mobile IV hydration unit rather than a storefront. That's a meaningful detail. Rather than opening with a lease and a build-out, she started by bringing the service directly to clients, testing the concept on the ground before investing in a fixed location.

The bet paid off. Elite IV Hydration has since grown into locations in both Lakewood Ranch and Sarasota, while still offering mobile service for clients who want IV therapy in the comfort of their own home. The company has also expanded its offerings well beyond basic hydration: IV therapy, injections, ionic foot baths, ozone saunas, an oxygen bar, and HD ozone UV and stem cell therapy now sit alongside the original mobile hydration service that got the business started.

Growing from one mobile unit to two physical locations plus continued mobile service, in a relatively short window since 2021, isn't a small undertaking for a single-founder healthcare business. Each new service added, the ozone sauna, the oxygen bar, stem cell therapy, represents its own layer of equipment, training, and safety protocol on top of the original IV hydration offering, expansion built on operational complexity rather than just adding a line to a menu.

That range reflects a healthcare background applied to a wellness setting rather than the other way around. A lot of IV hydration businesses start from a wellness or beauty angle and add medical credibility later. Marra's path ran the opposite direction: two decades in pediatric hospital nursing first, then a business built to bring that same level of clinical seriousness to a much broader, mostly healthy adult clientele looking to feel better rather than recover from an acute illness.

Who Elite IV Hydration serves

The client base spans a wide range. People looking for a quick rehydration boost, others managing chronic fatigue or immune support needs, and a fair number of first responders and medical professionals, who receive special discounts, a detail that reads as Marra extending a version of professional courtesy to people doing work she understands firsthand. The company has also brought its services out to retreats, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and corporate wellness events, stretching well beyond a single storefront model into wherever a client actually needs the care delivered.

Reviews of Elite IV Hydration consistently return to the same theme, regardless of which specific service a client came in for: Marra herself, personally present, knowledgeable, and attentive. Clients describe being personally guided through treatment options, having benefits explained clearly, and being made to feel genuinely cared for rather than processed through a standard wellness-industry script. One client specifically credited noticeable improvement in a skin condition their own doctor couldn't previously explain. Another described the space itself as clean, peaceful, and relaxing, with Marra "lovely, so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive."

That consistency lines up directly with the career that preceded the business. Someone who spent years as the nurse pediatric oncology families depended on to notice small changes and communicate clearly under stress doesn't stop applying that instinct just because the setting changed from a hospital room to a wellness lounge.

It's worth sitting with how different the emotional register of that work actually is. A pediatric oncology unit deals in life-and-death stakes, families in crisis, children who can't fully understand what's happening to them. A wellness IV lounge deals in tired executives, dehydrated athletes, and people looking for an energy boost before a big weekend. On paper, those couldn't be more different environments. What carries over isn't the stakes. It's the habit of actually paying attention to the person on the other end of the needle, a habit built over two decades in settings where not paying attention had real consequences.
