Dan Kelleher is the founder of The H2O Heroes, a water filtration company also operating as Water Filter Warehouse, based in Valrico, Florida. Known locally as "Dan the Water Man," Kelleher founded the company in 2017 and has grown it from a single Tampa-area operation into a company now serving customers in Florida, Maryland, Missouri, and Kansas, with the company's own materials describing service reaching all 50 states.

Kelleher's reason for starting the business was personal. He and his wife Taisha met while working in the water filtration industry back in 2005, dated for two years, and married in 2007. Somewhere along the way, both of them grew frustrated with the same thing: a lack of honesty and transparency toward employees and customers alike at the company where they'd met. That frustration became the founding principle of The H2O Heroes. "Honesty is always the best policy," as Kelleher has put it, and the company's positioning leans directly into that idea, describing itself as "a bright light in a really dark, dishonest industry."
Kelleher and Taisha have built a genuinely large family alongside the business, seven boys between them, ranging from 3 to 14 years old. Between raising seven kids and running a company that now spans multiple states, Kelleher has described the last two decades in the water filtration industry as building toward exactly this: a company that reflects the values he felt were missing from the industry he came up in.
Built to counter an industry's reputation
Water treatment is an industry with a real trust problem, full of high-pressure sales tactics and inflated claims about tap water dangers designed to close a sale rather than inform a homeowner. The H2O Heroes' entire brand identity is built as a direct answer to that reputation. The company's own language is blunt about it: "We educate, not manipulate." Every service starts with a free water test that shows a homeowner exactly what's actually in their water, with no pressure and no obligation attached to what they do with that information afterward.
That same directness carries through to the warranty. The H2O Heroes offers a lifetime warranty covering the tank, valve, filtration media, and labor, with the company explicitly marketing it as having "zero fine print." In an industry where warranty language is often where the fine print does the most damage, a plainly stated, comprehensive warranty is itself a form of the transparency Kelleher has built the company around. The warranty covers the resin tank, filtration media, filter housing, valves, water lines, salt tank, parts, and protective sleeves, a level of detail companies in this space don't always spell out up front.
The product lineup itself reflects a similar range: whole-house water filtration for general household use, water softeners specifically built for hard water regions, well water treatment for homes not on a municipal system, PFAS removal targeting the "forever chemicals" increasingly showing up in water supply testing nationwide, and reverse osmosis systems for drinking water at the point of use. That breadth lets the company serve a wide range of water problems under one roof rather than referring customers elsewhere for anything outside a narrow specialty.
A technician-first approach to trust
Every H2O Heroes technician is licensed, insured, background-checked, and factory-trained, a baseline the company advertises prominently rather than treating as an assumed given. For a service that involves a stranger coming into someone's home to install a whole-house water system, that combination of vetting matters as much as the technical qualifications themselves.
The results show up in the review count. The H2O Heroes has built more than 855 five-star reviews, growing from roughly 471 reviews to that figure in a relatively short window, a rate of accumulation that suggests the company has scaled its service delivery significantly even as it's expanded into new markets outside its original Tampa Bay base. That growth has carried the company from a single Florida market into a genuinely multi-state operation, with active service areas now including Baltimore, Maryland, Kansas City, Missouri, and Wichita, Kansas alongside its original Tampa Bay and Sarasota footprint.
Serving Sarasota alongside its home market
While The H2O Heroes is headquartered in Valrico, in the greater Tampa Bay area, the company has built out dedicated service specifically for Sarasota County, addressing water conditions unique to the region. Sarasota's water hardness averages 15 to 25 grains per gallon, well above the threshold typically considered "very hard," and the company's water softener systems are built around ion exchange technology to strip out the calcium, magnesium, and other minerals responsible for scale buildup, shorter appliance lifespans, and the dry skin and hair that come with excessively hard water.
The company's whole-house filtration systems for Sarasota homes use multi-stage carbon block and KDF media to remove chlorine, chloramines, sediment, VOCs, and organic compounds, with every system custom-sized to a home's specific water usage and contaminant profile rather than sold as a one-size-fits-all unit. That customization is part of the same educate-rather-than-manipulate philosophy driving the rest of the business: rather than a single standard package sold to every household regardless of their actual water conditions, the free water test up front determines what a given Sarasota home genuinely needs before any equipment gets recommended.
Giving back beyond the business
Kelleher's company has also put resources behind causes well outside its own customer base. The H2O Heroes has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in water systems to charities and disaster relief efforts, including response to Hurricanes Irma, Maria, and Dorian, and to communities affected by the Flint, Michigan water crisis. For a company whose entire brand rests on making clean water accessible and treating people honestly, that kind of giving reads less like a marketing add-on and more like a direct extension of the same mission the business itself was built around.
That giving also connects back to the company's own regional footprint in a fairly direct way. Florida's hurricane seasons routinely knock out power and water infrastructure across the same coastal communities The H2O Heroes serves day to day, meaning disaster relief work isn't an abstract charitable gesture for a distant crisis, it's the same kind of emergency the company's own Tampa Bay and Sarasota customers have lived through firsthand.
